Visit the station you actually want and inspect its claim screen before earning standing or spending money. A station claim is a substantial project. The most useful early decision is where you want to build, followed by a record of the requirements still missing there.
Directorship lets you redesign a station's interior, add rooms, and decorate its exterior. Directors can also establish an alliance.
Inspect the Station Core first
Land at an inhabited station and approach the large Station Core at the rear. Open the ownership option and read the eligibility list. Launch players identify this as the starting interaction for claiming a station.
The reported launch requirements are:
| Requirement | Reported target | What to check before working on it |
|---|---|---|
| Local race standing | 30 | The race and current count shown at this station. |
| Local guild standing | 15 | The guild named on the claim screen. |
| Completed salvage contracts | 5 | Whether a completed delivery increases the displayed count. |
| Units donation | 1,000,000,000 | The amount actually requested by your save. |
These values appear in launch coverage and community claim-screen discussions. Treat the table as a planning reference, because your mode or later patches may affect the interface or cost.
Write down the station and system names with the four current counts. Our recommendation is to take a screenshot for your own reference before leaving. A clear baseline prevents a wasted evening building progress somewhere other than the station you intend to claim.
Work on local standing in small batches
Launch players report that existing general reputation does not automatically fill the new local counters. They also report that the station where missions are handed in matters for local progress, and that donations to the guild representative there can count.
Our suggested procedure is deliberately easy to verify:
- Note the relevant counter at the Core.
- Complete one appropriate mission hand-in or donation at the target station.
- Return to the Core and inspect the change.
- Repeat a small batch only after confirming that it counts.
For race standing, players report success giving the appropriate race gifts to an NPC at their chosen station. One account used Vy'keen Effigies with a Vy'keen NPC. This is a community-tested route, not a guarantee that every gift interaction or future build behaves identically.
We recommend buying a few suitable gifts first, checking the result, and then obtaining the remaining quantity. Do not turn a claimed fast method into a large purchase until your own counter confirms it.
Learn one salvage contract before repeating five
Use the space-hulk salvaging guide to prepare the equipment and learn the delivery loop. Choose one contract you can describe clearly: what object is required, where it comes from, and where it must be delivered.
Our recommendation is to complete that entire loop before taking several similar tasks. Inspect the contract's completion state and then the station claim counter. Having gathered valuable material does not, by itself, prove that the particular contract was completed.
If a delivery fails to register, preserve the mission name, target, and material names before trying again. Compare the physical cargo with any processed inventory items. Repeating a mismatched delivery will not make the requirement clearer.
Check the Log and the Core counter before repeating a delivery just because its marker remains. Patch 7.01 fixed lingering markers after completed salvage missions; the marker alone is not a reliable completion check.
Launch reports also describe inconsistent contract completion for some cargo types. The marker fix does not establish that every delivery issue is resolved. If the task itself remains incomplete, record its requested cargo and destination before retrying.
If preparation stalls because the suit cannot fit supplies or protection, use the Exosuit inventory guide before buying more salvage equipment.
Keep the claim budget separate
If your Core requests one billion units, our advice is to treat that as a dedicated savings target. Keep enough for your ordinary supplies and current ship project outside that target. There is little benefit in finishing the claim and immediately being unable to support the activity you wanted the station for.
Community replies describe paying through Claim Station after the other requirements are met, rather than finding a separate donation NPC. Read the final confirmation before accepting it.
For preparation costs, use the crafting-material calculator for supported equipment and supplies. It is a materials planner; use the Core for the ownership cost itself.
If the claim screen gives an unclear result
Patch 7.01 corrected Claim Station text and errors when several players attempted to claim the same station. Check your installed version against the release log if the screen behaves unexpectedly.
For a group project, agree who will make the claim and let that person finish the interaction before anyone else tries. Then reopen the Core and check the resulting ownership state. If the outcome is still unclear, record the screen and unit balance before making another attempt; report a persistent error with the platform and version.
Make the first renovation easy to use
Before placing decorations, walk the station as a first-time visitor would. Our proposed first pass is one clear main route, a visible meeting place, and enough open space around every useful interaction. Keep the design readable from the hangar entrance.
New station decoration blueprints are available at the Space Anomaly's Construction Research Terminal. Patch 7.01 also changed some part unlocks to use salvaged materials and addressed certain unlock failures. Inspect the current unlock cost before buying supplies.
For an alliance, we suggest agreeing on its purpose before naming it: shared building, exploration, salvage trips, or simply a regular meeting place. Complete a useful room before promising a large community headquarters. If you want a smaller personal construction project first, follow orbital base building.
