If a survivor says they are not sheltered even while standing inside your house, check their assigned bed first. Putting a roof over the survivor's current position is not the housing check you need to fix.
Assign the bed to the right survivor
Equip the summoning tool, select the affected survivor, then highlight the intended bed and use the assignment option. The sheltered state checks for a roof and walls at that bed.
Check the assignment explicitly, especially after moving bedrooms or rearranging the base. An attractive room does not tell you which bed the game is using for that survivor.
For a quick troubleshooting setup, choose one simple room you can inspect easily. Put the bed away from the unfinished edge of an extension, complete the surrounding walls and roof, assign it, and recheck the requirement. Treat this as a way to narrow down the problem before renovating the entire settlement.
Separate a shelter warning from a walking problem
If shelter is satisfied but the survivor cannot reach the bed, look at the route. Remove clutter from doorways and use proper stairs where possible. Keen specifically notes that survivors can struggle with makeshift staircases built from props such as tables.
Try the simplest route first: one floor, an open approach, and room to stand beside the bed. If that works, restore furniture a little at a time until you find the obstruction. You can preserve the decorative layout elsewhere while keeping the working route clear.
For a survivor stuck in the scenery, Keen recommends placing them again in another position. The summoning tool's roaming controls can also keep a survivor near their work area; a 0 m setting prevents roaming. This is a positioning option, not a replacement for the bed check.
The bed looks correct, but the warning remains
Check that the game is updated before trying old building workarounds. Keen has previously fixed cases where a covered bed was incorrectly treated as unsheltered. That history does not prove your particular room is bugged, but it is a reason to avoid dismantling a finished base as the first response.
Our suggested next check is to repeat the assignment with a bed in the simple room described above. Note whether the warning affects one survivor or several, and whether it follows one particular bed. If it persists, include those details, the displayed warning, and a view of the bed's surroundings when contacting Enshrouded support. That gives the report more useful information than “my house does not work.”
Return to the recipe that was blocked
Once the shelter warning clears, inspect your original recipe again. Any remaining workshop, tool, or ingredient requirement needs its own next step; use the survivors and crafting stations guide to work through it.
