Musclehead vs Demon God: Compare Palworld Passive Builds

Palworld 1.0.4Published 4 min readPalworldpassive skillsparty builder

Musclehead and Demon God can give the same Attack preview while leaving you with different Defense and Work Speed. That makes them a useful first comparison before committing to a whole passive build. The goal is to see what one slot costs, then decide whether the trade fits your Pal's job.

The examples below use our Palworld party builder. They are calculated estimates, not measurements from a fight. Keep your own Pal's in-game stat panel nearby when adapting them; food, partner effects and other bonuses can make its totals differ.

Set up one controlled Penking comparison

Open Pal customisation, select Penking, and use these settings:

SettingValue for this example
Pal level50
HP, Attack and Defense potential0 each
All four soul-enhancement ranks0
Condensation stars and Trust level0
Alpha variant and AwakenedBoth off
Passive skillsStart with all four slots empty

Set the player level to 50 under Player & equipment too. That keeps this demonstration from relying on a Pal above its trainer's level: the game applies Level Sync to over-level companions.

Zero potential is a deliberate comparison setting, not a claim about the Penking you will catch. When planning your actual Pal, enter its individual values. Keep them unchanged between versions, or you will be comparing more than the passive.

First swap: the same Attack, a different job

Leave three passive slots empty and compare the remaining slot:

Selected passiveEstimated HPAttackDefenseWork Speed
None3,12545640670
Musclehead3,12559340635
Demon God3,12559342670

If you only read Attack, these two choices look equal. For a dedicated fighter, Musclehead's work loss may not affect what you ask it to do. For a Pal you regularly return to production, the lost Work Speed deserves attention. Demon God also gives a modest defensive gain in this comparison.

Acquisition can decide the practical choice. Musclehead has a reusable implant option; Demon God uses a disposable implant. If Musclehead already solves your combat problem, you do not need to postpone using that Pal while chasing the more expensive plan. Check your available surgery options before spending materials.

Second swap: what more Attack costs in a full build

Now fill the slots with Demon God, Diamond Body, Serenity and Lucky. Record the totals, then replace only Diamond Body with God of Destruction.

Four-passive planEstimated HPAttackDefense
Demon God / Diamond Body / Serenity / Lucky3,125707609
Demon God / God of Destruction / Serenity / Lucky1,562889568

The second plan gains 182 displayed Attack, about 25.7% over the first estimate. It also loses 41 Defense and roughly half its HP. That is a large survival cost for one changed slot.

These are comparison scenarios, not a recommendation to field several identical Penking. You can enter a second Penking with matching settings in another builder slot to keep both versions visible, or change the same slot and note the before-and-after values.

Choose the offensive version only if the remaining health and defense fit the encounter you intend to attempt. If the original build is already being knocked out, cutting its health is unlikely to address that problem. Our survivability guide helps choose a less costly next upgrade.

Read the effects that sit outside the totals

The higher Attack preview does not promise 25.7% more damage per second. Skills, cooldowns, movement and the time a Pal stays in the fight still matter. The builder does not simulate those attack sequences.

Diamond Body's interruption protection and Serenity's cooldown effect need their own consideration; they are not extra Defense or Attack numbers to add by hand. Keep the skill loadout and fight conditions consistent when trying the build in game.

The builder uses a community stat model and an earlier 1.0 species snapshot. Treat the figures as planning estimates and check your own panel before committing a rare item. The tool explains which effects its estimate includes.

Turn the comparison into your next upgrade

Start with the Penking you already own. If you need one, the Penking encounter guide explains the Alpha destination; selecting Alpha variant changes this article's numerical example, so match the setting to your actual Pal.

For a breeding project, use the breeding calculator to choose parents and keep your useful passive carriers until you have the offspring you need. For an implant change, check the trait and slot before consuming the item. A planner selection does not grant the passive in game.

The builder keeps your current plan in this browser when storage is available. Revisit the comparison when the Pal's role changes, using the passive shortlist to find the next candidate.
