Palworld Technology Points: Farm the Right Points & Plan Unlocks

Palworld 1.0.4Published 5 min readTechnology PointsAncient Technology Pointstechnical manuals

Before farming more Technology Points, inspect the unlock that is blocking you. You may need ordinary points, Ancient points, a higher player level, or the ingredients and workstation that make the unlocked recipe usable. Those problems look similar in the middle of a crafting session, but they require different next steps.

Our recommendation is to plan one complete upgrade at a time. Write down the item you want, its point cost, and every missing step between that unlock and a finished item. Then choose a point source that fits the gap.

Normal and Ancient Technology Points are separate

Technology Points unlock recipes through the Technology menu. The game's tutorial text lists leveling and Great Eagle Statues among ordinary point sources; Ancient Technology uses its own points associated with powerful enemies.

You receive 6 ordinary points per player level, 1 ordinary point per newly activated fast-travel point, 1 Ancient point for a first Alpha defeat, and 5 Ancient points for a first tower-boss defeat. The first-clear condition matters when planning repeat runs.

Effigies, Pal Souls and Ancient Civilization Parts are separate resources. If a building recipe asks for parts, more Ancient Technology Points will not provide those crafting materials. Keep the unlock budget and the construction shopping list on different lines.

Check these four gates before choosing a farm

  1. Level: can your character unlock the technology yet?
  2. Currency: which kind of point does the entry require, and how many are missing?
  3. Production: do you have the workstation and material recipes needed to make it?
  4. Operation: can your base actually run or support the finished equipment?

For example, unlocking an electric production building is only one part of using it. You may also need power, an appropriate worker and a steady ingredient supply. Planning those together prevents an apparently successful point farm from ending at a new bottleneck.

If your level is the only missing requirement, follow the XP guide. If a machine is already built but not productive, use base-worker troubleshooting instead of buying more technology.

Choose first-time rewards you can finish comfortably

Our exploration recommendation is to combine a few unactivated fast-travel points with another objective you already have. Plan the route on your in-game map, avoid crossing a dangerous region just to close a tiny point gap, and activate the destination rather than merely flying past it.

For Ancient points, choose an uncleared encounter that fits your current equipment. A familiar boss may be faster to defeat, but familiarity does not create another first-clear reward. Check the map's completion state and your own record before committing to a repeat circuit.

The tower guide helps with progression order and the bounty guide covers a separate set of named targets and token rewards. Use those detailed pages for their encounters; this page's job is to help you decide which activity serves the missing unlock.

Our stopping rule is to return once you can fund the planned upgrade. You can collect more points later, after you know what the next project needs. This keeps a practical crafting goal from turning into an unplanned completionist session.

Use technical manuals for repeatable progress

Ordinary technical books provide points beyond leveling and new statues. Look for them in dungeon and higher-level area chests.

Ancient Technical Manuals also exist. In v1.0.4, each manual grants 1 Ancient Technology Point, and dungeon loot is one way to obtain them. Its existence is why “Ancient points only come from first-time bosses” is incomplete advice.

Read and use the manual from your inventory to claim its effect. Merely storing a book does not put the points into your unlock budget. Check which balance increased before spending it, especially when your bag contains several similarly named consumables.

Our suggested farming approach is to run content that also advances another goal: a dungeon whose other rewards you need, a region you are exploring, or a route that supplies equipment materials. Use the dungeon guide for the run itself.

Track actual manuals received across several runs before committing a long session. Include travel, inventory clearing and failed attempts in your comparison. A spectacular single chest is not evidence of a guaranteed reward, and a loot-table percentage is not a promise that a particular run pays out.

Budget a useful upgrade, not a whole row

This is our suggested priority order when points are tight:

PrioritySpend onWhy we recommend it
FirstA recipe or station blocking your immediate objectiveTurns points into something usable now
NextA missing dependency in the same production chainPrevents the new unlock from sitting unused
ThenA repeated inconvenience, such as the mount or storage you actually needImproves many later sessions
LaterAlternative weapons, unused Pal gear and decoration projectsEasier to evaluate after your essentials work

Write the plan as “finished item → station → intermediate materials → raw materials.” Mark which entries are already unlocked, then total only the missing point costs. Remember to keep ordinary and Ancient totals separate.

For breeding overflow, compare Global Palbox and Dimensional Storage before unlocking a solution. For late production, the crude oil guide helps turn an extractor unlock into a working line. Buy the tool that serves your goal rather than the one with the most impressive description.

A short recovery plan when you have spent everything

First, stop buying optional unlocks. Second, check your stored manuals. Third, choose one nearby first-time reward or an appropriate repeatable manual route. Finally, spend the recovered points on the smallest complete chain that gets you moving again.

Keep the target and remaining costs in the Adventure Planner. When it is finished, return to the Palworld hub and pick the next project based on what you want to play, rather than trying to unlock every visible recipe at once.
